0:01So first thing is nonverbal cues.
0:03Someone is checking out if they are opening their mouth as if to say something.
0:07I call it the open fish.
0:08And that's a subtle cue that you talk too much.
0:10Do you think they're listening right now and think, fuck, that's me?
0:13Yes.
0:13And there was a recent study when they found that 95% of people have worked with someone who talks too much.
0:18Well, I have a do you talk too much test.
0:20So there's five questions here.
0:21And if you answer more than three times, you're probably an over talker.
0:25Yeah.
0:25Because my next question is like, which one's worse over talking or under talking?
0:28Well, I have spent the last 20 years studying master conversationalists.
0:32And I found that it's the vehicle to get what you want.
0:34And I'm a recovering awkward person.
0:35And I really struggled with bad conversation for a long time.
0:38But I think the next generations will be talking to technology more than they talk to humans.
0:43And because we're having less conversations, one in six people worldwide are affected by loneliness.
0:48And I now more than ever am sending nine minute voice notes to my friends.
0:51But a voice note, it's the most selfish form of conversation.
0:54But in this age of technological change, the people who are masterful at conversation are going to have an advantage.
