0:00If you go through life over-indexing and caring too much what people think about you, that's your ceiling.
0:09I want to start with something you said last time we talked, which is most people are underperforming relative to their ability.
0:17Walk me through that.
0:18There's a term that I came across many years ago called the central governor hypothesis, and essentially conveys the fact that most people underperform.
0:27And any observer of the human condition, I think going back to forever, agrees that that's probably true.
0:36Now, why is that?
0:37Well, you have to sort of delve into sort of human biology and genetics and understand.
0:42So what's the purpose of the brain?
0:46Generally, to keep you alive long enough to reproduce, right?
0:49You know, at a fundamental biological level.
0:52But we're not designed to overperform.
0:54We're designed to survive.
0:56And so overperformance or achieving one's potential requires sort of a cognitive decision to push oneself there, right?
