890. Emotional healing after betrayal + heartbreak

0:00So my most recent encounter with, let's just call it what it is, betrayal trauma, was the very end of my marriage.

0:08And it wasn't something that I had suspected leading up to it.

0:12When the person closest to you turns out that here's how my nervous system is interpreting it, is no longer safe, you start to wonder who else isn't safe.

0:21He was the same age as me.

0:22I was 41 at the time.

0:24He basically like rejected me based on the fact that I was 41 and he's like, I don't want to get married and have kids right away.

0:30Mind you, we never talked about getting married or having kids.

0:33He said, the fact that we're both 41 makes that a challenge.

0:36For so many women and very powerful women who have so much and are so successful and make stuff happen, it is almost the more vulnerable thing to say, I want love because you can't control it.

0:45Because I mean, all my women that I work with that are successful and single, it's the one thing in their life they cannot control.

0:51They get the job, they get the money, they get the friends, they get the body, all of that, whatever.

0:55And it's so tough because it is that thing that is so out of your control.
