0:00Welcome back to We Can Do Hard Things, Pod Squad.
0:03As another school year begins, how is this happening again?
0:08Does life move faster for you the older you get?
0:10It is definitely happening for me and making me very uncomfortable.
0:13Anyway, it is almost time again to start packing lunches, buying notebooks, labeling water bottles, and wonder if we're doing enough to prepare our kids for the world.
0:24But I've been thinking maybe the most important school supply isn't in the backpack.
0:28Maybe it's us.
0:30Maybe it's our willingness to sit down and have the conversations we're most afraid to have with our kids.
0:36Because our kids are growing up in a world that is asking enormous questions about climate change, about injustice, about bodies, about sex, about belonging, about who belongs and who doesn't, about what kind of future they're inheriting and what kind of people they want to become in the midst of what we as a country are becoming.
0:56And when those questions come, most of us panic.
0:59We want to have the perfect answer before we speak.
